On the positive side, it has a very small attack surface with only one entry point (a shortcode) and no known historical vulnerabilities. The absence of dangerous functions, external HTTP requests, and the use of prepared statements for all SQL queries are also strong indicators of good security practices.

However, significant concerns arise from the code analysis. The most critical is that 100% of its 11 output operations are not properly escaped. This means user-supplied data displayed by the plugin could be vulnerable to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks, allowing attackers to inject malicious scripts into a user's browser.

Additionally, the taint analysis reveals 3 flows with unsanitized paths. While no critical or high severity issues were flagged, this indicates that paths processed by the plugin might not be adequately cleaned, potentially leading to directory traversal or other path manipulation vulnerabilities, especially when combined with unescaped output.

The lack of nonce and capability checks on its single entry point (the shortcode) is another worrying sign. This absence of authorization and verification allows any user, even unauthenticated ones, to trigger the shortcode's functionality, increasing the risk of exploitation for any vulnerabilities present. The vulnerability history being clear of CVEs is a positive, but it doesn't mitigate the risks identified in the code analysis, particularly the unescaped output and lack of authorization.",[285,287,289,292
0% output escaping
Unsanitized paths in taint flows
No nonce checks on entry points",8
No capability checks on entry points","2026-03-17T00:35:32.260Z
[298,299,300],"/wp-content/plugins/wikilink/css/style.css","/wp-content/plugins/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips.js","/wp-content/plugins/wikilink/js/wikicore.js",[],[303,304,305,306,307,308,309],"/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/vista.css","/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/coda.css","/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/blue.css","/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/rosita.css","/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/hulk.css","/wikilink/js/sexy-tooltips/sexy-tooltips.js","/wikilink/js/wikicore.js",[
[313],"wikispan",[315,316],"","",[318,319,320,321],"wiki["dir"]","wiki["width"]","wiki["event"]","wiki["lang"]",[],[21],[325],""]
