So at some point on each page (that is, between each

tag) you need to add a tag to let the plugin know what number the footnotes on this page should start at. To do this, you can either simply insert the exact same text as you did the first time and the identifier should simply reference the previous note. Alternatively, if you don’t want to do all that typing again, you can construct a footnote like this:
((ref:1))
and the identifier will reference the footnote with the given number.

Even though it’s a little more typing, using the exact text method is much more robust. The number referencing will not work across multiple pages in a paged post (but will work within the page). The absence of any identified dangerous functions, SQL queries without prepared statements, or unescaped output demonstrates adherence to core secure coding practices. Furthermore, the lack of file operations, external HTTP requests, and the explicit reporting of zero taint flows with unsanitized paths suggest a clean and well-developed codebase. The complete absence of recorded vulnerabilities in its history further bolsters this assessment, indicating a history of secure development or a lack of past exploitation.

However, the most significant concern arises from the complete lack of security checks such as nonce and capability checks across all entry points. While the static analysis reports zero entry points, this implies that any potential future introduction of AJAX handlers, REST API routes, or shortcodes would be inherently unprotected unless explicitly secured. The current lack of any detected attack surface is a strength, but it also means that the plugin's security mechanisms for handling user input or actions have not been tested or implemented. Therefore, while the current code is excellent, the absence of foundational security checks creates a potential future risk.",[158,161
No nonce checks on entry points",10
No capability checks on entry points","2026-04-16T13:37:34.395Z
[167,168,169],"/wp-content/plugins/icon-footnote/build/index.js","/wp-content/plugins/icon-footnote/build/style-index.css","/wp-content/plugins/icon-footnote/build/index.asset.php",[],[167],[173,174],"icon-footnote/build/index.js?ver=","icon-footnote/build/style-index.css?ver=
[177],"wp-block-create-block-icon-footnote",[],[],[],[],[
true,"http://localhost/api/plugins/icon-footnote/bundle",404,"no bundle for this plugin yet
[190,196
"https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/icon-footnote/tags/0.1.3/",false,[],"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?old_path=%2Ficon-footnote%2Ftags%2F0.1.2&new_path=%2Ficon-footnote%2Ftags%2F0.1.3",[
"0.1.2","https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/icon-footnote.0.1.2.zip","https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/icon-footnote/tags/0.1.2/",[],[]]
